This turned out to be a down day. The cap was too strong and there just wasn't enough lift or heating to break it. We did a total of 263 miles from Great Bend, KS to Grand Island, NE. Around 1pm CDT we decided to stop and see the biggest ball of twine in the world in Cawker City, KS. I had the distinct pleasure of being able to put twine on it. Yes folks, I am now a part of history. Again, I stress that meteorologists need weather, or this is how we entertain ourselves :) Thrift + Patience = SUCCESS Cawker City's Ball of Twine The town's water tower My family must be so proud We also spent the afternoon at a state park, watching in frustration as pancake Cu after pancake Cu popped in the sky. Nothing could break that lousy cap :( We ended the day in Grand Island, NE around 7:30pm CDT. |
